Poster Contest, Golf Tournament Launch Hospital Fundraising Efforts

Kohala Hospital Charitable Foundation is launching its “2012: The Year of Kohala Hospital” fundraising campaign with two activities to involve both young and old. Donations and contributions will benefit a new emer¬gency room for the hospital.

The foundation is sponsoring the 2012 Kohala Hospital Art Contest in an effort to engage young people in community service for the hospital. The theme is a “The Future of Kohala Hospital” poster contest. Students in sixth to eighth grades at Kohala Middle School or equivalent home-school students are eligible to participate, with divisions for each grade level.

Poster size must be 12-inches by 18-inches; the words “The Future of Kohala Hospital” must be on the face of the project and the student’s name and grade must be written on the back.

Entry deadline is February 3, 2012. Prizes will be awarded for first through third place in each division.

All winning posters will be professionally matted by David Gomes and displayed at several locations. For more information about the poster contest, contact Hana Anderson at 987-6762 or hana@kohalataxllc.com.

For the adults, the foundation hosts a Scramble Golf Tournament at Hapuna Golf Course on February 11, 2012. Check-in time is 7:15 a.m.; shotgun start at 8 a.m.

Tournament play will be followed by a buffet lunch at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. All-inclusive tickets are $195 per person. All participants will receive a generous welcome gift bag.

Team prizes will range from $600 to $100, and $100 will be given for longest drive, men and women, and $50.00 for closest to the pin.

Donations, hole and tee sponsorships are welcome.
